Executive portraits are necessary to encourage business. I like to talk to the person to find out the purpose of the photo and what type of image they are looking for. I find that if I can engage a business person in conversation and get them to relax, the smiles come naturally.
I go "outside the box" when it comes to executive portraits. For example, I was hired to photograph a real estate broker on the beach. I had him fly a kite with his daughter, and it gave the image a warm welcoming appeal.
